I always enjoy when listeners send in good stories about things happening in our community and let's face it after this weeks news, we need some positive "kids" stories.

This week Monmouth-Ocean Congressman Chris Smith visited Point Pleasant Boro High School to see the work the STEM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) was doing at the school.

The apps the kids worked on were created for many needs, including local traffic notifications, assisting state troopers, and recruiting high school athletes for community colleges. There was also the Winners of the "Congressional App Challenge", an app called “Lunch Buddy,” created by Point Pleasant Borough residents .... Theresa Cardone, Jaspreet Kaur, Luke Boylan, and Adrian Wittmann.

The winning app connects their special needs classmates at Point Pleasant Borough High with other students who share the same lunch breaks at the school, to help them make new friends. A fantastic program and we applaud all the Stem Programs throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties!

Students interested in entering the 2018 Congressional App Challenge can apply via the challenge’s website www.congressionalappchallenge.us once the 2018 application is available.
