Matthew Ackerman, 25, was sentenced today in Ocean County Court in Toms River, according to the office of County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

In October 2015, Ackerman pleaded guilty to a second-degree sexual assault charge, connected to the incident that investigators said took place in December 2014.

Under terms of his plea bargain, Ackerman will be required to serve just over four years before parole consideration, under terms of New Jersey's No Early Release Act. He also faces lifetime parole supervision.

Terms of Megan's Law and Nicole's Law also apply, requiring Ackerman to register as a sex offender and avoid contact with the victim.
