License plate of van in Beachwood shed fire probe identified

The license plate on the white-colored, 2000 Chevy van believed to be the getaway vehicle after a shed went up in flames on Route 9 in Beachwood Thursday morning deepens the ongoing search for suspects by arson investigators.

Shortly after Beachwood firefighters fought back the flames at about 5:20 AM, Beachwood police and Ocean County arson investigators buttonholed witnesses who reported a man, carrying a gasoline can. leaving the spot, and speeding off in a white van. It was last seen moving south on Capstan Avenue.

Anyone who recognizes the van is urged to call the county arson squad, 732-929-2027, extension 4760, or Beachwood police, 732-286-6000, extension 100. Anyone who spots the van is urged not to approach it, but to call 911 instead.
