TRENTON — An elementary school teacher accused of inappropriately touching a 9-year-old girl on two separate occasions was released from custody pending a possible trial.

The fourth grade math teacher at Trenton's Franklin Elementary School was released on the condition he avoid contact with the girl, cannot commit new offenses and have no unsupervised interaction with children under the age of 18, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. reported that Ciaccia's attorney, Nick Travisano, argued that Trenton school officials blocked an investigation into the allegations. Trevisano also argued that the girl told classmates she would get Ciaccia in trouble because he has reprimanded for missing reading assignments.

Travisano did not return messages seeking comment.
