Howell conducts regular drills, but according to Neil Brosnan, the Township Public Schools Security Director, it has been several years since a simulated exercise of this scale has been carried out.

"We're taking one step further to see what are capabilities and are limitations are," said Brosnan. "Are Administration from twelve schools will be there to observe and participate so that we all can learn from this experience."

Students who participate in the Howell Police Athletic League's programs will take part in the drill as well as volunteer staff from the schools. "Any given day at any given time we must be prepared," said Brosnan.

All agencies involved in the training exercise will evaluate the drill immediately after. "Everyone will sit down around a table and hot wash this and determine what went well and what didn't, and what we need to improve in the future," said Brosnan.

Results of the drill will be kept confidential to protect security within the schools and police tactics in the event a real disaster where to transpire.
