Lakewood Toddler Killed in Accident

Lakewood Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl who was struck by a van off Route 9 near 11th Street this afternoon. The accident occurred a little after 2 p.m. while the toddler was walking home with her father and 4-year-old sister.

According to the Lakewood Scoop, the child was run over by the vehicle as the driver was turning into a driveway to pick up another child. The girl's father and the driver removed her from under the vehicle.

First responders (Hatzolah BLS and ALS) transported the girl to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus while CPR was in progress but efforts to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful.

Lakewood Police Department's Traffic & Safety Division is Investigating the incident.
