Lakewood Police partners with ‘Nixle’ notification system

When signs of trouble are near your neighborhood in Lakewood, there is now a new way to find out what is going on.

Lakewood Police have partnered with 'Nixle' which is a notification company in order to install a Community Notification System alerting residents the details of an emergency along with other need to know information.

Alerts would be sent to you via text, email, web or even upon downloading the Nixle Mobile App.

To begin receiving these public safety alerts officials say there are a number of ways to sign up:

1. Text 08701 to 888777 from your phone.

2. Sign up through http://www.lakewoodnj.gov/department/police via the Nixle Widget.

3. Visit www.nixle.com and sign-up by creating a User Profile.

Lakewood Police continues to work on how to spread this alert system throughout the community and even has a plan for two-way tipping in the works through text message.
