Lakewood Melee Goes Viral, Stirs New Investigation

Police in Lakewood might have thought the investigation of a street brawl Monday was over. Then a video of it started catching massive attention on Facebook, Youtube and other sites.Now, another officer has been assigned to follow it up.

Authorities say it seemed to center on a fender-bender involving a car and minivan on Second Street just after 6 PM.

Officer Michael Mooney noted several people described by police as "visibly upset and agitated." Three people were treated for minor injuries at Kimball Medical Center and released, police said.

Mooney interviewed people at the scene and filed reports. Then the video popped up the following day.

Lakewood PD Detective Oscar Valmon has now been assigned to continue the investigation.
