The crash erupted at about 11:25 AM near the intersection of Ford Road. According to police, Shmaya Schubert, 31, was northbound on the state highway in a 2005 Toyota Camry, approaching a stopped car about to engage a left turn.

Police said that Schubert failed to spot the stopped car and veered left, into oncoming traffic, in a no-passing zone.

His car was hit by the southbound 2001 Western dump truck driven by Glenn Jablonski, 29, of Bayville.

Schubert and his juvenile passenger were rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The minor's injuries are described as non-life-threatening. Jablonski was evaluated at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.

No charges have been filed, but police seek witnesses as the investigation continues.

Howell police can be reached at 732-928-1111. Traffic Safety Officer Matthew Cherney leads the probe.

Assisting at the scene were New Jersey State Police, Lakewood Police, Howell Township EMS, First Aid, and Emergency Management members, MONOC Paramedics, Hatzola EMS, the Southard and Squankum fire departments, agents of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, HazMat and SCART teams, and the NJ Transportation Department's diversion team.
