Lakewood Bat Attack Probed as Bias Crime, Suspects Sought
The brutal beating of a Lakewood man with a bat during the weekend is being considered a bias crime as police continue to search for suspects.
Sources inside Lakewood Police Department say that the incident is listed as an aggravated assault, motivated by bias.
The victim reported being beaten by eight Hispanic men as he walked his dog near his home around midnight Saturday. He sustained injuries about the head and face, but none were considered life-threatening, according to police.
Investigators say they've recovered the bat, but so far have completed no arrests. If you saw or have any information about it, reach Lakewood PD at 732-363-0200.
