The discovery of a dead dog inside a Forked River home leads to animal cruelty and abandonment charges against the former resident. 21-year-old Megan Otte was arrested Tuesday and placed in the Ocean County Jail on $75-hundred dollars bail when Lacey Township police found the dog's body inside the residence while investigating reports of a suspicious odor. According to the police investigation, Otte allegedly left the mixed-breed dog named Ruger a month ago, alive inside a crate of a Pensacola Road address but the dog died after she moved out of the residence.
