In the middle of this past spring, we found out that the Staples on Route 9 in Lacey Township would be closing. But it didn't mean that the structure would be vacant for long, as signs for the next tenant have already shown up.

As you know, over the summer the Aldi on Route 37 in Toms River reopened to much fanfare after a 3-month renovation.

And now Ocean County residents to the south will be able to enjoy their own Aldi, which is what will take the place of the former Staples in the Home Depot and Kohl's plaza.

While the Asbury Park Press reports that the Aldi sign has already gone up on the Route 9 plaza, there haven't been any official announcements from the company yet, so we don't have much clarity on a timeline at this point.

Another interesting note that the APP story points out is that the long-delayed Lidl project across from Walmart just up Route 9 has apparently been resuscitated with the permit process finally moving forward.

We'll keep an eye on both projects and keep you updated!
