If you hear more noise than usual or feel the ground shaking this weekend near the Joint Base, don't lose your cool.  Two units are conducting mortar and artillery-firing training at the Dix ranges Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

According to the Joint Base Facebook page, units training include: the 1st Squadron, 102nd

Cavalry (Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition); New Jersey Army National Guard from Westfield, N.J.; and the Golf Battery 3rd Battalion, 13th Marine Regiment based out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Officials warn nearby residents may hear more noise than usual coming from the ranges and experience possible ground shaking due to the training. It is important to note that noise from the ranges may travel farther during overcast weather conditions.
