Joint Base Cancels Fourth Of July Activities

The sequester has another casualty - the Fourth of July celebration at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

According to the Joint Base Public Affairs Office, the event, including fireworks, entertainment, food and activities, is cancelled for this year in accordance with the Department of Defense's recent announcement requiring most civilian employees to be furloughed beginning in July.Civilian employees play a large role in the planning and execution of the event.

Many military open houses, airshows, flyovers, orientation flights, and service aerial demonstration team performances from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, across the country are being cancelled.
