Jewish school teacher charged with inappropriately touching boy
TRENTON — A teacher at a Monmouth County Jewish school was charged with inappropriately touching a boy in 2012.
Menachem Chinn, 36, was arrested at his East Windsor home on Thursday night for the incident, wihich occurred at his home and was only recently to police, according to acting Mercer County Prosecutor Doris M. Galuchie.
Chinn is a teacher at the Shalom Torah Academy in Marlboro, according to the prosecutor. Chinn was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of sexual assault.
Galuchie did not disclose if the boy was a student at the academy or what the nature of the student's relationship to Chinn was.
Shalom Torah Academy describes itself as a Jewish community day school with children age 6 weeks to age 14. The school's website describes Chinn as a 6 and 7th grade "math enrichment facilitator" and referred to him as a rabbi.
According to its website, Chinn is also the Twin Rivers director for the New Jersey NCSY, a Teaneck-organization that helps teens "searching for answers and directions" and brings "passionate Judaism directly to hundreds teens every week."
Neither organization has yet returned messages seeking comment.
