NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP — A Jersey Shore man was arrested for slashing two people with a machete during a large group fight.

Township police said two men had been at a large fight on Heck Avenue on Thursday night around 8:30 p.m. and drove themselves to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries. One man was stabbed in the leg and back while another was cut in the arm, according to police.

Nico Durant, 18, was found in his car on Lake Avenue around 2 a.m. Friday morning and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful use and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

Police said they went to Heck Avenue after getting a call about the party but found no one at the home.
