KILLINGTON, Vt. — A New Jersey man died after snowboarding into a tree in Vermont on Saturday.

James Meyers, 26, of Toms River was on the slopes at Killington Ski Resort with friends when he went off the trail, according to Vermont State Police around 10:30 a.m. He was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Meyers was not wearing a helmet.

Killington Ski Resort is over 300 miles north of Toms River and a five-hour drive.
