Jackson woman charged with six shopliftings in one Monmouth town

A Jackson woman arrested on a shoplifting charge Friday in Monmouth's Ocean Township now faces similar charges in five other incidents in the community, according to local police.

Margaret Vannell, 34, was released to await municipal court proceedings on all six charges, plus a count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said that officers were summoned to the Target of Ocean at about 6:24 PM on January 8, for a shoplifting in progress. Once there, responding officers were told that the suspect took off in a taxi.

Investigators tracked the cab to the Asbury Park train station, where Ms. Vannell was identified, apprehended and taken to Ocean Township PD headquarters.

Detectives Bryan Morgan and Michael Legg added the addtional charges based on additional investigation, police said.
