Jackson Woman Accused of Embezzling from Golf Club

A 34-year-old employee of the Charleston Springs Golf Course in Millstone is in custody, charged with skimming more than $3,000 in greens fees.

According to information from Monmouth County Acting Prosecutor Chris Grammiccioni's office, Carol Hobbs of Jackson is accused of falsifying refund transactions between September and December 2012. She faces a third-degree charge of theft.

Investigators say that an audit revealed the discrepancies. Hobbs is accused of pocketing money she listed as greens fee refunds that golfers neither asked nor received.

She was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold in lieu of $5,000 bail.
