It's hard to believe that a year has already passed since Hurricane Irene crossed paths with Ocean County.

It was a surreal experience, with a large stretch of the Garden State Parkway shut down, mandatory evacuations, and anxious breath-holding.

When all was said and done, Ocean County, which was expected to be one of the hardest hit areas, experienced some heavy rain, vivid lightning, and local flooding, but we didn't get hit nearly as hard as areas to the north of us.

Now hurricane Isaac is making its way straight towards Florida, possibly impacting the Republican National Convention. While we may not see another storm of Irene's wrath for years, it's always good to stay prepared.

What do you remember from the weekend of Irene? Were you in an evacuated area? Tell us about your experience in the comments section!
