A horrific case of animal cruelty turns up in Monmouth County.

300 mostly dead birds and small animals were discovered in the Little Silver home of Monmouth County SPCA volunteer Grechen Rell when the investigation began Sunday, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Monmouth County SPCA Police Chief Victor "Buddy" Amato confirmed that Rell worked as an apprentice avian rehabilitator. Amato said the mostly dead birds wdescribed as seagulls, pigeons, robins, wrens and loons, were stacked in cages from floor to ceiling, five feet high in the Mitchell Drive home. 18 live animals were removed from the home Monday.

Amato also said 60 more dead birds where allegedly discovered in the Ocean Township home that Rell owns. She faces a host of Animal Cruelty charges.
