Howell Township fire victim identified

The woman who died, along with her dog, in an inferno that spread through her house Tuesday afternoon is identified by police as Debra L. Cataldo.

Authorities said that they withheld her identity until family members were notified.

Investigators haven't changed their initial finding of no suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze that drew five fire companies and a first-aid squad to West Fifth Street.

A witness told authorities that the intensity of the head forced windows to shatter outward. Firefighters were able to bring it under control within about 20 minutes.
