As we told you last month, the Howell Township Police Department took part in this year's "No Shave November" fundraiser for cancer treatment and research, specifically prostate cancer, at CentraState Medical Center.

Chief Andrew Kudrick suspended regular grooming regulations for the event and about 25 officers put their razors on lockdown to help raise awareness. after setting an initial fundraising goal of $5,000, the department was able to raise a total of $6,500 thanks to generous donations.

Donors who contributed $50 or more were invited to sign the department's special "Cancer Fighter" patrol car on Saturday. It's a custom-painted, decommissioned police cruiser that will be on display at community events whenever the Howell Police Department is involved. Atlantic Auto Body of Howell donated the materials for the body work on the vehicle.

The top fundraiser was Patrolman Vincent Campagnola, who, along with his family, raised $1,300. The top individual donor was Bernie Gernay of Ultimate Tree Service in Howell, who donated $250.

Congratulations, officers - you all look great helping a great cause!
