As the country honors the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., you may be participating in this Day of Service by volunteering somewhere.  If you're thinking about donating some volunteer time but are unsure where to go, here's a site you should check out.  https://www.jerseycares.org/HOC__Volunteer_Opportunity_Search_Page?dstnc=0&k=&p=Se&z=08757

That list shows organizations in Ocean and Monmouth Counties that could use your help. You can customize your search by entering your zip code and the number of miles you'd be willing to drive to get to the volunteer opportunity.

Studies have shown that volunteering has numerous benefits, not only to the people BEING helped, but those DOING the helping!  As I look back on the times I've volunteered, they've all been memorable, awareness-raising experiences that I'm grateful for.  Time and money always seem tight, but there's something about volunteering that makes me feel it's all worth it...one small way maybe I can help make the world a better place.

Do you volunteer for a school, church, charitable organization, or community group at the Jersey Shore?  Use the Comments section to give a shout out to the place where you donate some time.  Maybe it will inspire others to join in and help.
