Commuting is just a fact of every day life for those of us here in Ocean County. With the average commute of an American worker being just over 45 minutes, a lot of us get creative to help pass the time.

For me, it's audiobooks.

There used to be a perception that audiobooks were simply "books" for people who were too lazy to actually pick up a book and read. But these days, audiobooks are less a person speaking words to you, and more a performance.

With some productions including multiple narrators, music, and even celebrity performers, listening to an audiobook can help you paint as much of a picture as if you were reading the book on your own.

As someone who drives the same route every day to and from work, I find listening to a good book to be a great way to keep my commute entertaining. In fact, when I'm listening to a really good book, I actually look forward to my commute when I get to pick the story back up again.

So what are some of your strategies to help battle commuter boredom? Weigh in on the comments section!
