How Do You Feel About Gift Cards?

I love gift cards. Really, I think they're great. Don't get me wrong, I think that thoughtful gifts are fantastic too, but I have nothing against gift cards as a gift option.

Some feel like gift cards are too impersonal, that it doesn't take any thought or effort.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think that giving a gift card is a great way to tell the receiver that you want to help them get something that they really want.

I'll take a gift card over an ugly sweater any day.

Again, don't get me wrong, I think that the generosity of gift giving is wonderful, and I absolutely appreciate it when someone puts thought into giving a gift that they really think that the receiver will enjoy. But I don't think that there's anything wrong with giving a gift card, either.
