Warning: I'm going to go on a rant here.

I'll start by saying that I have the utmost respect for mail carriers and delivery drivers.

The vast majority do their jobs reliably and in a friendly manner. But as with many situations, the disappointing experiences are the ones that tend to make an impression.

This morning I had a situation that has happened all too often in the last few years - I was expecting a package today, only to step outside and see it sitting on my patio.

I know it came between 9am and 11am because I walked my dog at 9 and saw it when I left for work around 11.

I was home and downstairs the whole time, but my doorbell never rang, and there wasn't even a knock.

Now look, to be fair, I don't expect the mail carrier to ring the bell and wait for me to open the door. But in the past (which wasn't that long ago), the mail carrier would at least leave the package against the door where it would be less likely to be seen from the street, and knock on the door so I would open it and see the package.

I'll knock on wood when I say it, but thankfully I haven't had a package stolen. But every time something is left on the middle of the porch without any kind of notification, it feels like just a matter of time.

Has this happened to you? Have you had a package taken? Comment below and join the conversation!
