Halloween is meant to be fun for kids. But not all kids are able to stuff their jack o' lanterns with candy and enjoy the decadent treats. But "The Teal Pumpkin Project" is hoping to make Halloween safe for all.

Kids with food allergies face unique challenges when it comes to Halloween.

Those Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Payday bars, and Snickers may be gleefully devoured by many, but to kids with food allergies, they can literally be deadly.

Here's how it works - houses that are offering non-food Halloween treats (simple kid friendly giveaways like stickers, small toys, etc) are asked to place a teal colored pumpkin on their porch to show that their house is offering goodies for food allergy sufferers as well.

You can even take it a step further and print out a Teal Pumpkin Project sign to post on your house.

When we think about the fact that 1 in 13 kids in the U.S. suffer from food allergies, this is a great way to make sure that Halloween is fun and safe for everyone!
