Frazier will be saluted as the National League’s Rookie of the Year for his 2012 season with the Cincinnati Reds while Frank will receive the Distinguished High School Service Award.

Last April he became the winningest baseball coach in New Jersey history with his 755th career victory and Frank will be back in the dugout shortly to begin his 35th season as the Indians coach.

Other shore-area sports figures who will be honored at Sunday’s banquet are Manasquan football coach Jay Price for his first-responders efforts during Superstorm Sandy, UFC fighter Frankie Edgar and Richard Stockton College basketball coach Gerry Matthews, who will both go into the Hall of Fame and San Diego Padres pitcher Brad Brach, a former Freehold Township and Monmouth University standout.

The 2013 list of honorees also includes Olympic soccer standout Carli Lloyd, Rutgers football Coach Kyle Flood and former Jet running back Bruce Harper.

The banquet is from 11:30-2pm and for information you can visit

All the news about how bad of a flu season this is and will be has prompted procrastinators to finally get a flu shot.  The problem is many places that give the vaccinations don’t have them because of the high demand.

I was able to get one on Saturday but after finally talking my wife into the shot she called several pharmacies who publicize having them only to find out they were all out.  Many will put you on a waiting list but can’t promise when they’ll have enough vaccines to take care of all the names on the list.

I can tell you the Ocean County Health Department has added several flu clinics this week at their locations in Toms River, Lakewood and Manahawkin.   You can call them at (732) 341-9700 or visit their web site at  It takes up to two weeks for the vaccine to take full effect and with reports that early next month might be the height of flu season it’s not too late to protect yourself and others.
