Asbury Park has certainly established itself as a place to go when it comes to restaurants and nightlife so it seems an appropriate location to get some of the area’s top chefs together for a great cause.

Billed as a culinary and wine tasting event, Chef’s Extraordinaire will take place on Thursday, April 6th at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel from 6 p.m. -10 p.m.  It’s a major fundraiser to benefit the Common Ground Grief Center and more than 400 guests will enjoy the creations of some of the finest chefs in Monmouth and Ocean Counties along with wine sampling and of course decadent desserts.

Among those participating are Blend on Main, Brandl, Buona Sera, Chef Mike’s ABG, Fratello’s, Joe Leone’s, Mossuto’s Market, Porta, Prime 13, Scarborough Fair and many others.

The event will also honor Peter Grandich, an incredibly generous and charitable person who I have gotten to know through an affiliation with his Peter Grandich and Company and Trinity Financial, Sports & Entertainment Management Company in Spring Lake.

I’m humbled to be a part of his impressive advisory board which includes many former pro athletes. Three of them will be special guests for the event.  Former Giant football players Jeff Feagles and Keith Elias along with former New Jersey Devil Grant Marshall will be on hand to help salute Grandich.

Chef’s Extraordinaire will be a delicious evening for sure and most importantly benefit Common Ground Grief Center which provides on-going peer support groups for children, teenagers and young adults who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or friend.  Located in Manasquan their services are free to all families and they are supported solely through donations and grants.
