Homeless Victim Of Videotaped Beating Gets Support
A homeless New Jersey man beaten in a video that appeared on YouTube has received an outpouring of support from outraged members of his community since his plight became public Monday.
Fifty-year-old David Ivins said in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday that he was soon to be put up in a hotel. And he had been told someone was donating a new bike to him. Ivins says he hope to use his fresh start to stop drinking.
Twenty-year-old Taylor Giresi was charged with aggravated assault, theft and other charges. A 17-year-old boy was also charged. Police say the teen taped Giresi beating Ivins.
A community group has set up a fund for donations to help Ivins.
