"Homeland" has won the Emmy Award for best drama series, breaking the stranglehold in the category held by "Mad Men." Claire Danes and Damian Lewis of "Homeland" each won leading actor awards tonight.

Also in the drama category, Aaron Paul won for best supporting actor for "Breaking Bad" and Maggie Smith of "Downton Abbey" won for best supporting actress.

Modern Family" won its third straight Emmy as best comedy series. Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen of "Modern Family" claimed supporting actor awards.

Jon Cryer of "Two and a Half Men" claimed the best comedy actor trophy.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was honored as best actress in comedy for "Veep."

"The Amazing Race" has won the Emmy for best reality series and Tom Bergeron of "Dancing With the Stars" won for best host of a reality series.

The 64th Primetime Emmys aired live from Los Angeles, with Jimmy Kimmel as host.
