A mass amount of jewelry was stolen from the residence along with other valuables on February 25th.

The investigation led police to the home of John Mullen, 60 of Toms River on the night following the incident at which time he was arrested and charged with burglary and theft.

Police say Mullen may have sold the stolen jewelry from the burglary as they worked with local retailers in an effort to find the property.

Following the arrest of Mullen in Toms River, investigators collected information on another suspect in the burglary to a man in Ocean Gate.

Frederick Monahan, 35 is facing charges including burglary, possession of an imitation firearm, receiving stolen property and possession of heroin at his apartment.

Additional charges are pending following the result of the investigation into this incident and other possible cases in the area after police found a number of valuable items in the apartment.

Monahan has prior burglary arrests in Berkeley Township, Pine Beach and Manchester from last year.

Both men were brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Berkeley Township Police worked with the Ocean Gate and Toms River Police during the investigation to collect warrants for the arrest of the two men.
