In a press conference held yesterday, Lakewood Chaveirim members announced the reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the driver who left a Chaveirim member severely injured last Saturday.

Addressing the media, was Police Liaison Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien, Police Chief Rob Lawson, Traffic and Safety Sergeant Frank Work, Chaveirim member Naftoli Eisen and Mayor Albert Akerman.

During the conference, township officials expressed their appreciation of the Chaveirim team, a group of Orthodox Jewish volunteers who offer help and roadside assistance, and OEM members for their dedication.

Police are searching for a light-colored 1993 Chevy Astro with front right end or passenger side damage that crashed into 24-year-old Moshie Guttman leaving him with a broken skull and multiple broken bones. Guttman, a Chaveirim member, had just finished repairing a motorist’s tire when the suspect crashed into him. He has since underwent surgery for his extensive injuries.
