Tarik J. Wilson, 39, whose last known address was on Briar Mills Drive in the township, and Jakeela A. Hunter, of Birch Drive, face a raft of charges connected to the August 28 crash on Drum Point Road and Baywood Boulevard.

The biker and his young passenger sustained numerous injuries, police said. They were thrown from the motorcycle when the vehicle turned a hard left in front of them, according to investigators.

Officers followed a trail of fluid from the spot to Finchley Drive at the Waterside Gardens apartments. They seized the car but found no driver.

Investigators led by Patrolman George Williams identified Wilson as the driver following a Tuesday road stop in which he was a passenger in a car driven by Hunter, police said.

Wilson is charged with endangering a helpless or incapacitated person, hindering apprehension, and driving with a suspended license, along with seven driving-related offenses.

He was also the subject of several warrants issued by the Ocean County Sheriff's Department and police in Toms River, Brick and Howell Townships, police said.

His bail was set at $100,000 full, while Hunter was released on a criminal summons to await a hearing.
