Authorities said Tuesday that a police raid on the home of the husband of an Atlantic City radio host whose 2012 death remains an unsolved mystery was not related to the homicide case.

But what it was related to, however, authorities are not saying publicly.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said the search warrant at the Linwood home of Dr. James Kauffman and his Little Egg Harbor office "is unrelated to the homicide of Dr. Kauffman's late wife April. However, information that we developed over a period of time let us seek and become authorized to execute a warrant."

April Kauffman was found shot dead inside the bedroom of their Linwood home on May 10, 2012. No one has ever been charged with killing her. But her husband has remained under a cloud of suspicion even though prosecutors have not named him as a suspect.

According to 6 ABC Action News, Kaufman's stepdaughter has accused him of being responsible for her mother's death amid a legal dispute over the dead woman's insurance policies.

Tyner's office, meanwhile, has asked a judge to order Kauffman to submit a DNA sample. A judge was expected to make a ruling Tuesday, but the decision would remain secret.

The execution of the warrant Tuesday morning turned into a standoff when Kauffman "displayed" a Ruger 9mm shotgun when police and the FBI showed up at his office. Kauffman surrendered and was taken into custody of the Psychiatric Intervention Program for monitoring. He was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets and obstruction of the administration of law.

Tyner would not say if Kauffman pointed the gun at officers.

Tyner said investigators continue to work on the homicide case.

"Everyday that goes by we are getting more information and getting more people to come forward," Tyner said. "I and members of my office look forward to bringing Mrs. Kauffman's family the closure they deserve."
