According to Brick PD Captain Vincent Pacitti, the deterioration is the result of Tropical Storm Hermine. The storm stalled off the New Jersey coastline for most of Labor Day weekend, giving beaches an extended pounding with turbulent waves.

Access points remain open at Brick Beach One, Three and Sixth Avenue. However, you'll be sharing space with earth movers involved in the township's beach restoration project.

Police urge extreme caution while heavy machines move sand, and also during high tide, when waves will lash the steel revetment.
