Her Job Celebration Ended in Traffic Tragedy
The Brielle woman struck and killed by two taxi cabs on Thursday night was celebrating a job offer after a job interview in Manhattan.
Kelly Gordon, 22, a Boston College senior, was with her stepsister after a promising interview with Goldman Sachs, according to the New York Post. "She was so pumped to get that dream job,” her aunt, Lori Centrella, told the newspaper.
She was leaving a friend's apartment and was crossing York Avenue between 84th and 85th Street on the Upper East Side when she was struck by two licensed yellow cabs. The first cab that struck Gordon was traveling south; the second cab was heading north and hit Gordon as she lay in the dark street, according to PIX 11. The two drivers remained at the scene following the incident.
In a statement on the Boston College website, Gordon was remembered as a "popular student" in the college's Carroll School of Management. She was "a community volunteer with the student group 4Boston, and a member of the student organization Boston College Women in Business.” Goldman Sachs also sent the family a letter of condolence according to the Post.
Gordon was a 2010 graduate of Red Bank Catholic according to her Linkedin profile and had created her own jewelry company, KG Designs, and had interned with the Andrew Cuomo gubernatorial campaign.
Services for Gordon have not yet been announced.
