Its National "Mentor" Month

National research has shown that the positive relationships between youth and their Big Brothers and Big Sisters have direct and measurable impact on the children´s lives? Throughout the 15-year history of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ocean County, ALL of the Littles in our program have completed high school, in many cases despite considerable odds. Many have gone on to college.  By participating in our youth mentoring programs, Little Brothers and Little Sisters are:

  • More confident in their school work performance
  • Able to get along better with their families
  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
  • 52% less likely to skip school

It takes a community to raise our Littles, and it takes money to make and supervise our matches of Littles and Bigs. We rely on the support of the individuals and businesses in our community to support BBBSOC as we begin our 16th year of supporting the children of Ocean County.
