The Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Unit is asking for your help!Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue (BTUSAR) is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization and unlike Fire, Police, and EMS they don’t receive funding.  They conduct surface water rescue, ice rescue and waterborne rescue training for emergency first responder organizations as well as salvage, recovery, cleanup, and marine mammal assistance in the Barnegat Bay and surrounding areas, but their equipment is supplied out of the pockets of the volunteers.
Recently the air compressor used to fill SCUBA tanks has gone down permanently and cannot be repaired; and without air to breathe, their capabilities as a rescue squad have been effectively cut in half.  A replacement compressor capable of filling tanks with breathable air can run anywhere between $5,000 and $15,000.   BTUSAR are in desperate need of funds to cover the cost of a new compressor, without it they are unable to function as a rescue unit.
We get a lot of emails asking how you can help out the community--This is a great way to help out this local neighborhood organization!
