Showing appreciation for veterans and providing lessons for future generations, a few of the goals of a display planned for the Lakewood Branch of the Ocean County Library System.

Library officials are asking for photos and memorabilia from local veterans for a display being set up in the library's Meeting Room during the month of November.

"We'd like to get a photograph of them, whether it's from today or from their time in the service" said Lakewood Outreach Librarian Jeanne Murray. "And we'd also like to get a brief bio about them and that can really encompass anything that they want to put in their bio's, such as where they served and when, the impact of that time on their life, why they chose to serve."

Murray said they also welcome contributions from the family members of veterans.

The display is a first for the Lakewood Branch. Murray said they're hoping to honor local veterans and the sacrifices they've made for our country.

To participate or get more information contact Jeanne Murray, Outreach Librarian, at 732-363-1435 or via email at jmurray@theoceancountylibrary.org. They've set a mid-October deadline.
