As we get into the heart of the summer travel season, plenty of Ocean County residents will be hitting the road for vacations and spending a lot of time in the car, on airplanes, or otherwise engaged in getting from here to there for long periods of time.

While a lot of us will spend a few hours traveling to get somewhere fun, there are also plenty of Americans who will be spending hours on airplanes being deployed by the military around the world.

A friend of mine in the Air Force, who is stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, is scheduled to do just that this summer, with an itinerary that will take him about 14 hours to get from New Jersey to his destination.

While air travel for civilians has more entertainment options than ever these days, with most major carriers featuring screens at every seat that are stocked full of movies, TV shows, games, and more, military transportation is decidedly less glamorous and entertainment-rich.

So my friend needs to put together a heck of a playlist for his upcoming trip overseas.

He needs an awful lot of music, so we're looking for all of the suggestions of what should be included on his iPod that you can come up with!

Comment below and let us know what you think should be on the ultimate travel playlist for a soldier's deployment overseas!
