Many of us started our day today with a deafening thunderstorm and torrential rain. While the midday hours have been clear of bad weather, we could see a return of this morning's meteorological drama just in time for the afternoon commute.

WOBM Meteorologist Dan Zarrow tells us that a repeat performance could show up at any time from the middle of this afternoon on.

Of course here we know what comes along with these wicked pop-up storms - torrential rain quite often leads to local roads not being able to handle the rate of rainfall, and subsequently flooding.

It's always worth reminding everyone that you should never try to pass through a flooded roadway. It only takes a few inches of water to disable or even sweep away your vehicle.

And remembering the stories from two weeks ago of two separate incidents of people being struck by lightning in Ocean County, it's also a good time to remind people to seek shelter indoors if thunder and lightning moves in.
