Heavy Rain May Bring Minor Flooding to NJ

Heavy rain could create flooding conditions on Tuesday night and Wednesday in many areas of New Jersey.

Meteorologist Alan Kasper expects areas of light rain to start on Tuesday ahead of a slow moving, low pressure area that will also bring gusty winds out of the east and temperatures in the 50s.

The heaviest amounts of rain will fall on Wednesday with 2-4 inches in north and central Jersey on Wednesday, prompting a Flood Watch for Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Sussex as small creeks and streams will near flood levels on Wednesday and Thursday even after the rain stops.

The Passaic, Raritan and Delaware Rivers will see their waters rise.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect for Monmouth, Ocean, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Cape May and Burlington counties for the threat of flooding in poor drainage areas and roadway flooding along the coast.

The sun returns on Thursday with southwest winds bringing warm temperatures and the chance of thunderstorms.
