The late spring heat and humidity will continue on Saturday but it will feel a bit more comfortable.

Skies will be sunny with less humidity on Saturday as the wind changes direction to the north and northwest. Temperatures will above average in the upper 80s and a few lower 90s according to meteorologist Geoff Mauer, who says beach temperatures will be in the lower 80s.

Ocean temperatures remain in the chilly lower 60s but the UV tanning index is at a 10 on Saturday.

Temperatures on Friday soared into the lower 90s on Friday and combined with the humidity making for a heat incdex of near 100 degrees across much of the state.  Thunderstorms never really got organized in New Jersey but some strong storms developed in New York State

Several schools around the state dismissed students early on Friday due to the lack of air conditioning in some of their buildings.

A few thunderstorms are a possibility in South Jersey on Saturday but steadier showers will move in on Sunday night.The final week of spring begins on Monday with cloudy skies and showers.

For the weekend, temperatures will hold in the 80s on Sunday under partly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 70s at the beach.
