Heart Victim on Pleasure Cruise Rescued off Toms River Coast

A 66-year-old woman on an ocean voyage suddenly ends up in stable condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after suffering a heart episode about 20 miles in the Atlantic off Toms River.

The U.S. Coast Guard says their watchstanders received a call around 12:40 PM from personnel aboard the Carnival ship Splendor, reporting a passenger undergoing heart failure.

A helicopter team was deployed from the Guard's Atlantic City base to whisk the woman and a nurse to the hospital in Neptune.
