Eddie Capriani, 43, was indicted on a second-degree theft charge by a Monmouth County grand jury in Freehold, and released after posting $150,000 full bail, according to information from the office of acting Monmouth Prosecutor Chris Grammiccioni.

Capriani, trading as "Eddie Wohanka" according to investigators, set terms with the homeowner for a $225,000 reconstruction in November 2013. He allegedly cashed his first check for $30,000 the following month at a Hazlet check-cashing center, where subsequent checks were also processed, investigators said.

Capriani is accused of accepting $15,000 in March 2014, followed by three checks totalling $75,000 the following June, when his registration was suspended, authorities said. To date, Capriani hasn't returned any of the payments, authorities said.
