The Rowan University student topped runner up Anna Negron of Vineland, Brenna Weick from Mantua, Tenafly's Olivia Michael and Kelcie Klauss of Pitman to win take the top spot.  The pageant took place at the Music Pier on the boardwalk in Ocean City and was hosted by Dena Blizzard who was Miss New Jersey 1995. Blizzard is also featured as a fill-in host on NJ101.5

It was Giannini's fourth Miss New Jersey pageant. “To me, it’s always something I’ve wanted,” she told the Press of Atlantic City.. “I live 25 minutes from Atlantic City and it’s truly just a dream come true.” She says her grandmother used to sing the famed "There she is" Miss America theme whenever she came into a room.

Gianni's platform is distracted driving which she became passionate about before she was a contestant at the age of 17. "I saw all my friends texting and driving, so I drew up a little sign and took it to my local police station to ask them how I could get them put it up in town," she tells NJ.com. Her sign can be seen all around the United States and in five countries.

Giannini was also a lifestyle and fitness winner as well as a talent winner in the preliminary rounds. She succeeds Cierra Kaler-Jones as the title holder and wins a $12,000 scholarship from the Miss New Jersey Scholarship Foundation.
