I have learned that if you want to tick off at least half the public then question why the annual Toms River Halloween Parade is held on Halloween which forces trick or treating the day before in Toms River, Beachwood, Pine Beach, South Toms River and Ocean Gate.

Of course many others believe that kids should get their fill of candy on October 31st like everywhere else in America but I’ll leave the subject alone for another year.

I do not regret my comments but in a recent issue of “Mens Health” the magazine listed some decisions men instantly regret:

  • Thinking you can get yourself over that barbed wire with a wide, awkward straddle.
  • Starting a conversation with the guy at the next urinal.
  • Agreeing to help any male friend over the age of 25 move into a new place.
  • Deciding to answer the phone anyway when you don’t recognize the number.
  • Telling any joke that begins with “this may sound sexist, but….”
  • Figuring that somebody should finally tell your nephew that Santa Claus isn’t real and it might as well be you.
  • Dropping in on your daughter at college.
  • Going for a hug seconds before realizing your buddy’s going in for a handshake.
  • Telling your barber that it’s time to get creative and try something new.
  • Thinking to yourself, “I’ll just answer this text quickly,” while driving.
  • Congratulating or acknowledging that any woman is or might be pregnant, even if she obviously is. Even if she’s currently giving birth.
  • Bringing up politics with an Uber driver.
  • Bringing up politics to anybody…ever.
