We recently commemorated the 40 year anniversary of the very first  Platinum Record.  It was awarded, to mark the sale of 1,000,000 units (albums and singles).  "The Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" got the honor of being that first album to go Platinum.

It got me thinking about all the Greatest Hits albums out there. And how it would be hard to choose just one favorite!  There are so many good ones that really capture the essence of the artist.  And I love the ones that showcase an artist's growth from the first hit to the tunes that came out decades later.  Stevie Wonder's compilation is a good example of a record that takes the listener on that kind of musical journey.

It's a good time to ask the "Desert Island Disc" question:  If you knew you would be stranded on an island, with a working CD player, and you could have only record playing over and over again, what album would you choose?  Would it be the Greatest Hits of Billy Joel?  Elton John?  The Police?  Bruce Springsteen?  Or some other favorite?  Please tell us in the Comments section below.
